Ongakuyōbi: Takeko Minekawa

You may have already heard Takeko Minekawa, because she’s most famous as the girl who shouted “Playstation!” at the end of Playstation 3 commercials. But she’s also an underground pop seamstress who writes her own lyrics and music – clear from the use of Casio keyboards and the abundant references to cats, clouds and math.

As mentioned before, Minekawa is married to Cornelius, “the Japanese Beck.” Here’s a really cool collaboration from the pair, which I like to think gives a hint of what their children would look like:

A good place to start with Takeko Minekawa would be the 1996 album “Roomic Cube,” which is available in pretty much any record store.
